HGH 191AA, also known as somatropin, is a recombinant human growth hormone produced by recombinant DNA technology in E. coli. The protein consists of a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain of 191 amino acid residues with a molecular weight of approximately 22 kDa, and its structure corresponds to the major component of growth hormone extracted from human pituitary glands. The 191-amino acid sequence distinguishes it from the 192-amino acid form (somatrem), which contains an additional N-terminal methionine.

The recombinant protein contains two disulfide bridges — between Cys53 and Cys165, and between Cys182 and Cys189 — that are essential for its tertiary structure and biological activity. Somatropin binds the growth hormone receptor (GHR) and activates JAK2/STAT5 signaling, leading to IGF-1 production and downstream metabolic effects.

Handling and storage

Reconstitute under aseptic conditions using sterile water or an appropriate aqueous buffer. Somatropin is soluble in water.
