Tesamorelin Peptide (Egrifta, TH9507) — Research Grade Peptide, ≥98% Purity (HPLC)
FDA-approved GHRH analog. Lyophilized powder. Lot-specific COA included.
Tesamorelin Peptide is a synthetic 44-amino-acid peptide analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), with a trans-3-hexenoyl modification at the N-terminal tyrosine that extends its half-life by protecting against DPP-IV cleavage. It binds the GHRH receptor (GHRHR) on anterior pituitary somatotrophs and stimulates endogenous growth hormone release through a Gs/cAMP signaling cascade, preserving natural GH pulsatility and somatostatin feedback.
The compound’s human data is the strongest in the GHRH analog class. A 2026 meta-analysis of five randomized controlled trials in HIV-associated lipodystrophy found that tesamorelin 2 mg significantly reduced visceral adipose tissue by 27.71 cm² (95% CI −38.37 to −17.06; P < 0.001), trunk fat by 1.18 kg (P < 0.001), hepatic fat percentage by 4.28% (P < 0.001), and waist circumference by 1.61 cm (P < 0.001), while increasing lean body mass by 1.42 kg (P < 0.001). No significant reductions in subcutaneous adipose tissue or BMI were observed, and no significant change in CD4+ T-cell counts was reported. Adverse events included arthralgia, myalgia, paresthesia, and injection-site reactions.
Tesamorelin Peptide is approved in the US as Egrifta and Egrifta WR for a narrow indication: reduction of excess abdominal fat in HIV-infected adults with lipodystrophy. It is not indicated for weight loss management, and long-term cardiovascular safety has not been established.
Supplied as a sterile-filtered, lyophilized powder for in vitro and preclinical research applications. Each lot is independently verified for purity and identity and ships with a Certificate of Analysis.

Note: Tesamorelin Peptide is supplied in both free base and acetate salt forms. KEGG lists the free base at 5135.78 g/mol, while suppliers list the acetate form at approximately 5195.88 g/mol. Independent testing of gray-market Tesamorelin has documented fill deviations including a −51% miss (4.93 mg vs 10 mg label) and a −28% fill, alongside a +93% overfill result from another vendor. Verify the exact form, molecular weight, and fill volume against the Certificate of Analysis supplied with your lot.
Research applications
Tesamorelin is used in laboratory settings to investigate:
-
GHRH receptor signaling — activation of Gs/cAMP signaling in anterior pituitary somatotrophs and downstream GH synthesis and release
-
GH/IGF-1 axis research — dose-dependent increases in IGF-1 levels, with IGF-1 acting as the primary mediator of tesamorelin’s pharmacodynamic effects
-
Visceral adipose tissue biology — targeted reduction of visceral fat depots in HIV-associated lipodystrophy models, distinct from subcutaneous fat effects
-
Hepatic steatosis research — reduction in hepatic fat percentage and its relationship to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)
-
Body composition research — increases in lean body mass without significant changes in BMI or subcutaneous adipose tissue
-
Lipodystrophy models — the compound’s approved indication provides a validated research context for studying abnormal fat redistribution in HIV patients on antiretroviral therapy
-
Analytical method development — LC-MS/MS quantification and reference standard preparation for GHRH analog analysis in biological matrices
Handling and storage
Reconstitute under aseptic conditions using sterile water or an appropriate aqueous buffer. Tesamorelin Peptide is soluble in water. Aliquot immediately after reconstitution to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Lyophilized powder is stable for up to 2 years at −20 °C under sealed, desiccated, light-protected conditions. Reconstituted solutions should be stored at 2–8 °C and used within 14–21 days. Do not freeze reconstituted solution.
