Semaglutide Peptide is a synthetic 31-amino acid GLP-1 analogue with 94% sequence homology to native human GLP-1. It acts as a selective agonist at the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), with an EC₅₀ of 6.2 pM in reporter assays using BHK cells expressing the human receptor. Its extended half-life is achieved through albumin binding, which decreases renal clearance and protects the molecule from metabolic degradation, alongside stabilization against DPP-4 enzymatic cleavage.
